School Beliefs
We believe:
- We believe a safe, healthy, and disciplined classroom and school environment promotes learning; teachers, support staff, and administrators should provide an environment in which concerned adults set firm, consistent, and positive limits while providing needed academic, emotional, and social support.
- We believe that students must master basic skills and be able to apply them in a variety of contexts at each grade level in order to be academically successful.
- We believe that learning is the result of active, applied effort from students, their teachers, their families, and ultimately, their communities.
- We believe that consistent attendance promotes academic achievement; therefore, encouraging daily attendance encourages daliy learning.
- The application of a variety of instructional strategies in a positive, structured classroom provides the best learning environment for students with differing ability levels and learning styles.
- We believe the faculty, support staff, and administrators should be committed to pursuing training and staff development opportunities in order to stay current with learning trends, and to grow professionally to ensure that student needs are met both presently and in the future.
- We believe that students of all ability levels and learning styles are capable of making gains and achieving academic successes.
- We believe that a variety of assessment types and strategies should be sued to determine student understanding and academic achievement.
- We believe that school-wide policies and procedures should involve faculty and support staff as well administrator to ensure maximum buy-in from everyone in the school community.
- We believe that decisions affect both students and parents; therefore, parents should always be informed and aware of what is going on with their children and be actively involved in their children's education.
- We believe that administrative decisions should be supported, not undermined, by teachers and staff.
- We believe that periodic review and assessment of our policies, procedures, and instructional strategies should be conducted to ensure effective measures are continued and ineffective measures are discontinued.
